BMW i3 ConceptElectric cars are becoming the future of automobiles and BMW has been working on various concept cars to turn them into better electric vehicles that can offer better performance and options in the future. BMW has now made an announcement about the world premiere of the new BMW i3 which will be the first all electric vehicle in this series. The German automaker has said that they will introduce the vehicle across the three continents and therefore the new car will be launched in New York, Beijing and London at the same time. The new BMW i3 all electric car will be launched globally exactly after two years of the launch of BMW i3 Concept that was unveiled in Frankfurt before the International Motor Show.

BMW claims that the concept of unveiling the car in three different continents is a global approach of the company to resolve urban mobility issues that are becoming common in all leading cities across the world. The all new BMW i3 gets the unique design that makes it one of the most attractive exterior designs that looks very futuristic and sets benchmarks in terms of design, dynamics and better performance and efficiency. It will also be the world’s first premium electric vehicle that will have interiors made out from carbon fiber reinforced plastic. In each of the three cities BMW will also have live internet transmission that will allow BMW to launch the car globally.

The car will be powered by 125 kW electric motor that has the capability to produce 170 horsepower and 184 lb feet of torque offering better performance and driving range of 130 to 160 kilometers which is around 100 miles approximately. The new electric motor is 40% compact than that of Mini E while the power is delivered through direct drive single speed transaxle. This also means that the car will never accelerate more than 93 mph as BMW claims that more speed will drain out the batteries quickly. The car offers acceleration of zero to 60 mph in 7.9 seconds. BMW has also worked on the battery charging factor and the new all electric BMW i3 gets charged at around 80% in an hour. The interiors get better CFRP seats that is used for the first time and the interiors look very futuristic while offering better climate control options as well. As of now, BMW i3 does offer lot of promise but still remains a concept stage vehicle.
