Honda Read to Test New Micro Sized Commuter EV Prototype

Honda Micro-sized EVAutomakers all over the world are focusing on better commuter vehicles that can allow their customers to travel across the city limits without burning much fuel and energy. Now, Honda has come up with their new Micro Commuter Prototype Beta which is the latest micro sized EV model from Honda. The Japanese automaker said that they are in collaboration with the City of Saitama where they will focus on various tests that they will conduct to see and improve the performance of this vehicle. Honda revealed that the testing will begin in fall. The automaker also thanked Saitama City’s council for participating in the testing and said that the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism has already been seeking such micro-sized mobility.

Honda claims that this will be a micro sized short distance transportation EV and therefore the overall design of the car will be in terms of the city. The car will have micro size exteriors that will offer seating for two passengers. However, they are studying about how this can be used for child raising families. Honda also said that they will also focus their studies on how the same car can be used by senior citizens and for car sharing commuting purposes.

The car will also collaborate with ongoing E-KIZUNA project that will include the demonstration of this car with Honda Smart Home System and the value of micro sized EV as a household battery. Honda will also focus on the Variable Design Platform that will allow them to place the battery, motor and control unit under the floor without taking up any space in the interiors and the rear space of the car. Honda revealed that they will test the new micro sized commuter vehicle with various new technologies that they have to ensure that the vehicle delivers better performance in the city and minimize the environmental footprint in the future. The interior and the body of the car will need to provide better comfort and convenience to the users which they need on daily basis and therefore Honda will team up with the City of Saitama to explore and know more about the needs of the commuters on daily basis.
