Porsche 918 Spyder already breaks the Record

Porsche 918 SpyderThe new 918 Spyder lapped up the famous Nürburgring Nordschleife in less than 7 minutes, in 6:57 minutes, to be precise.  It burst the previous record for OEM-spec by 14 seconds. Unveiled at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, Porsche 918 Spyder comes equipped with the Weissach package. Three three drivers, Porsche factory driver Marc Lieb, Porsche test driver Timo Kluck and former European Rally Champion Walter Röhrl took the 918 Spyder on September 4th and smashed the record driving at an average speed of 111.5 mph, conquered the 12.8-mile lap around the Nurburgring Nordschleife.

Driving 918 Spyder is a pleasure with its redefined performance and efficiency. The unique spread of the model plus its minimal fuel consumption offers superior driving dynamics. When it comes to developing sporty hybrid vehicles, nothing can beat the leading role of Porsche’s pioneering plug-in hybrid concept. It is the radical hybridization of the 918 that has made the record happen. Nordschleife is the toughest test for any sports car and sure these are good enough reasons for Porsche to be proud of. After all, the record of the past four years has been smashed.

Made with carbon-fiber reinforced plastics, one can expect greater stability with lightweight construction as well as higher safety for the occupants in its cabin. You will find the usual Porsche’s trademark characteristics on the exterior.

Finally making its debut at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, the production-version 918 Spyder offers its customer’s best-in-class experience and as always being a leader in safety and performance.
